MOF
Season Predictions
by

Updated: September 4, 2012: 10:00am EST
Welcome ladies and Gentleman to the
annual MOF Season predictions. This year will be a little different as you can
see, yours truly Chris Berman has been hired by Commissioner Dypko and the MOF
to write up these season predictions. I have gone through each coaches
tendencies, how they would fit with the team they are coaching, and came up with
these predictions. Remember guys, do not take this personal, it is all in good
fun. Besides, when was the last time anyone was right on any prediction? Eh?
Hello again MOF Coaches and fans. We are poised and ready for an amazing Season
XXII which now includes EA Sports Connected Careers! Yes that's right, the MOF
is going Franchise. Things are going to be a lot different around here, and I
think it will all be for the better. However injuries, free-agency, trades, will
all be a factor this season, so it makes the predictions even harder! However,
it makes things a lot more fun as well. I went through, and broke every team's
schedule down and came up with the Season XXII predictions, I hope you all
enjoy!
AFC East
Buffalo: William M. (beast10790)
Miami: Ben Zino (DFwTx214)
New England: Coach Clarence (DefensiveEnd99)
New York Jets: Alex Leivano (LatinYank77478)
Coming
off a Super Bowl victory coach Beast10790 looks to repeat! He elected to keep
Buffalo before the draft started, before the MOF announced that we would be
doing a franchise league. Never the less, I don't think any of it will matter
because Buffalo will still be the team to beat when the first whistle is blown.
You look at their squad, and you see some excellent defenders and the addition
of Mario Williams. On offense, the name the game is running the football. Fred
Jackson had an amazing season last year, and looks to continue his MOF
dominance. Their quarterback situation could be upgraded with a trade or
free-agency pick up, but I think they'll have enough to win this division
handedly. Next on this list is the Miami Dolphins. These guys were drafted by
Coach Bryan Guzman who was a rookie, unfortunately he had to resign before the
season even started, which makes you wonder about his commitment the entire
time. Either way, he made a couple questionable cuts with David Garrard and
Daniel Thomas both getting the axe. There is a possibility that new coach Ben
Zino (DFwTx214) could re-sign these guys. What's good about the Dolphins, is
that they are 1st in the waiver order to begin the season, so they could wind up
signing a free-agent that can really make a difference. Either way though, this
will be a tough season for the Dolphins and Coach Zino. Not that much talent at
WR, a rookie QB, and an injury prone Runningback. It will be tough for them to
compete, which is why I predicted them in last place. The New England Patriots
are known for being underachievers in the MOF world. Each and every season they
are rated one of the highest talented teams, but each season they fall short of
their expectations. Last season was no different as legendary coach Steam
finished 3-13 with the all mighty Pats. Coach Clarence comes into Foxboro trying
to erase a disappointing Season 21 where he finished 4-12 with the Eagles. Many
believe that the dual TE threats will make the Patriots a very hard team to deal
with. I expect Coach Clarence to look for a runningback via trade or free-agency
as well. The New York Jets have their man back! Coach Leivano is back under helm
for the Jets, and he looks to avenge his 8-8 finish last season. We all know
that when you coach your favorite team, things are a little bit easier. With the
quarterback controversy looming with Tebow and Sanchez, I think Coach Leivano
will make it clear that Sanchez is the starter, and with that defense they
should really compete for a playoff spot.
AFC East Predictions:
Buffalo: 13-3
Ny Jets: 9-7
New England: 7-9
Miami: 3-13
Rewind:
I believe barring a crucial injury, we will see the
Bills win this division pretty easily and might even
clinch by week 12 or 13. I expect the Bills to be the
top team in the AFC and the team to beat. Like I said
barring an injury, these guys have to be the favorites.
The Jets can definitely hold their own, and if they can
possibly take one from Buffalo they can give them a run,
but I think the Jets finish with a winning record and a
great shot at making the playoffs. The Patriots are
always hard to play with, no running game and a poor
defense makes them a bad madden team. If Clarence can
find the winning formula, they can be very dangerous, I
think he will find it a little too late. The Miami
Dolphins are one of the worst teams in the game, and I
expect Coach Zino to have a tough go at it.
AFC North
Baltimore: Kyle Kimble (Duckfat95)
Cincinnati: Chris Keith (ukcat98)
Cleveland: Paul Schenk (Cedarpoint2k)
Pittsburgh: Rey Viscaino (JDidd)
Last
season this division was one of the top in the MOF. The Ravens won it at 14-2
with Coach Healy at the helm, and the Bengals and Steelers both made the two
wildcards. The AFC North will still be competitive for the most part this
season, but nothing like it was last season. The Baltimore Ravens are headed by
Coach Kimble who took the Jaguars to an 8-8 record last season. Kimble has a
much better defense in Baltimore, but about the same offense as Jacksonville.
The Ravens have Ray Rice, but an inconsistent Quarterback that will give coach
Kimble fits all season. When all is said and done, I think the Ravens will end
up in the hunt for the 6th wild card seed. The Cincinnati Bengals have to be the
favorites coming into this season. Coach Ukcat is entering his 4th full season
as Bengals head coach, and he's going to be having a few more in the up coming
seasons. With an emerging WR star in AJ Green, and a very good quarterback in
Andy Dalton, the Bengals are a dangerous young team with a bright future. The
run game needs a little bit of help, as they signed Ben-Jarvis Green-Ellis in
the off-season. However, I dont think that'll be a problem for Coach Ukcat. The
Cleveland Browns are headed by good ole' Coach Cedarpoint. Last season was a
disappointment for Coach Cedar as he finished 6-10 with the Detroit Lions. The
Browns are one of the lowest ranked teams in the game, but they are Cedar's
team, so when it comes down to it, he'll be playing with more heart than
anything. It's unclear who will be the quarterback in Cleveland, whether its
McCoy or Weeden, but i think it'll be a tough season either way. I do expect the
Browns to win some games, but some is the operative word. The Browns just don't
have enough to compete, but at least they are in the AFC and that 6th seed will
definitely be up for grabs. Who knows, maybe some things will fall into place
for Coach Cedar and the Browns can surprise some people. The Pittsburgh Steelers
are manned by Coach Jdidd this season, and last season Diddy finished 9-7 with
the Chargers and just missed the playoffs. If this were a regular MOF season i'd
say that the Steelers have a great shot at taking this division down, however
it's not a normal MOF season. It's a franchise. The truth of the matter is that
the Steelers are getting older, and their defense is getting older. Polamalu
hasn't finished a full-season in a while, and he's injury prone, Rashard
Mendenhall is also injury prone, and Big Ben is often hurt too. So the fact that
these guys are hurt alot, makes me skeptical that Coach Didd can make a run with
them.
AFC North Predictions:
Cincinnati: 11-5
Baltimore: 8-8
Cleveland: 7-9
Pittsburgh: 5-11
Rewind: This division is Coach
Ukcat's. Finally! Coach Ukcat has been waiting a while to become the creme of
the crop of the AFC North and i believe that this is his year. The Ravens and
Browns will give him some good battles, and will be 2nd and 3rd respectively,
but i think the Bengals will be too much for all these teams to compete with.
The big surprise will be Pittsburgh. I think they are a talented team, but I
don't think Jdidd can coach them to where he wants them. I expect a mediocre
season out of them, and i'd be surprised if they had more than 5 or 6 wins.
AFC South
Houston: Vin Manners (TXSpinRb8)
Indianapolis: Dan Holleman (trigrdan)
Jacksonville: Philip Heiner (Darth Blunt)
Tennessee:
Zac Hults (woody_08)
The
AFC South was dominated last season by Coach Pauly and the Texans. Houston
finished 12-4 and won the division pretty easily with the Jaguars the only other
team to come close to .500. I believe that this season will be much different.
This division is the poorest in the league, and that's no disrespect to any of
the coaches in this division, but there just really isn't anything that
impresses me about these teams. Coach Vin Manners heads up the Texans, and this
is the most talented team in the division by far. However, Coach Manners is
coming off a 3-13 season with a pretty talented Chiefs team. So to think Coach
Vin is going to have this 13-3 season would be fooling ourselves. I think Coach
Vin will have a much better season than last, but I really don't think he'll win
this division, or if he does, it won't be by a big margin. Vin has already been
in a few trades during the draft, and pre-season, trying to make his team
better, but hopefully he wont trade away too much. Coach Trigrdan is with the
Colts this season, who are absolutely in a rebuilding stage. Coach Trigrdan is
rumored to be trading the farm for some draft picks. We already saw Robert
Mathis in the middle of trade talks and it looks like he's on his way out, so
who's next? Andrew Luck is in for a rude awakening when the Colts take the field
for Season 22, and I think Coach Trigrdan might regret his decision about week 5
or 6 when the Colts are winless. The Jacksonville Jaguars are coached by rookie
Philip Heiner who is making his MOF debut. The Jaguars are another one of those
teams that are rebuilding. Justin Blackmon and Maurice Jones-Drew are the bright
spots of this offense. Blaine Gabbert just hasn't proven enough yet to even be
considered the starting quarterback. With a few free-agents out there, we could
see a McNabb or even a Garrard comeback in Jacksonville. The Titans are coached
by Woody this season, and Coach Woody took the Browns from a 2-7 record to an
8-8 record in the second half. Very impressive finish by the Veteran Zac Hults.
Coach Woody is my favorite to come out of this division based on his experience,
his team, and his will to win. The Titans have the most experienced quarterback
in the division in Matt Hasselback, and arguably the quickest runningback in
Chris Johnson. That with an underrated defense makes the Titans the favorite to
come out on top.
AFC South Predictions:
Tennessee: 9-7
Houston: 8-8
Indianapolis: 5-11
Jacksonville: 3-13
Rewind: This division is going
to be a close nit one with the Titans and Texans fighting all season long. I
think the two head to head games are going to determine our division winner. If
they split, then the division games are going to be the games that make the
difference. You know the Colts and Jaguars will win 1 or 2 division games
besides themselves, but who will they be against? Coach Holleman has experience,
but the Colts are just too talent challenged to make a difference, and the
Jaguars are coached by a rookie and to get respect you must earn it!
AFC West
Denver: Carey St. Hilaire (Shut-Down-D-)
Kansas City: Brandon Weakland (MMXCalibur)
Oakland: Jason Fontaine (JFon)
San Diego: Ron Clark (IGotASxyWife)
This
has to be one of the most intriguing divisions in all of MOF Season XXII. You
have two former Super Bowl champions in Shut-Down D and Coach IGotASxyWife. You
also have Coach MMX who's been on a 7 season hiatus, but is also the only Coach
to ever bring Arizona to the playoffs, and Super Bowl. And you have JFon who is
coaching a team other than the Bucs for only the 3rd time out of 12 seasons. We
start with the Denver Broncos and Peyton Manning. This team is the sexy pick to
make it to the NFL Super Bowl, but what about the MOF Super Bowl? Coach
Shut-Down was out of action the last two seasons here in the MOF, so the rust
will need to be washed away if he wants to make some noise in this competitive
division. With Manning though, anything is possible. The Chiefs are manned up by
Coach MMX who makes his triumphant return to the league. He enters with his
favorite team in hand, and one of the favorites in this division. Jamaal
Charles, Tony Moeaki, Dwayne Bowe, this team is loaded with talent, and im sure
Coach MMX has some tricks up his sleeve to acquire some more talent. Coach JFon
is coaching the Raiders this season, and without his Tampa Bay Buccaneers, he
might be in for a long season. Being in a division with these other 3 coaches is
going to be challenging, given the fact that all 3 have Super Bowl experience.
Darren McFadden will win him some games all by himself, but I will be surprised
if the Raiders finish with more than 5 or 6 wins in this tough division. The San
Diego Chargers are coached by none other than Ron Clark better known as
IGotASxyWife. After winning the Super Bowl back in Season 18 Coach Ron hasn't
really been able to live up to that same level. He is a perennial playoff coach,
no doubt about it, but can he take that next step and win his 2nd title? I
believe with this squad, and Philip Rivers, Coach Ron can get to the promise
land.
AFC West Predictions:
San Diego: 10-6
Kansas City: 9-7
Denver: 8-8
Oakland: 5-11
Rewind:
Again, the most intriguing division out of them all. We
will all be excited to see what MMX can do in his
return, what Peyton Manning can do in Denver, what J-Fon
can do in Oakland rather than being in Tampa and if
Coach Ron can relive his glory days with the Chargers.
This division is going to come down to three teams. The
Broncos, Chiefs, and Chargers. I think the Broncos are
the most talented out of the 3, but i think Coach
Shut-Down's rust is going to prove costly in the
beginning of the season and might put him too far back.
The same goes for Coach MMX, he's been gone even longer,
but he has his favorite team. The Chargers are my
favorites to win this division because of their solid
offense, and defense, and the ability of Coach
IGotASxyWife. This will be up for grabs until the end,
and it will be a great story to watch unfold.
NFC
East
Dallas: Quincy Peterson (qkpeezy35)
New York Giants: Brett Williamson (uccbrett)
Philadelphia: Rafael Morales (sincere4)
Washington: Thomas Betts (NYRedskins35)
The
NFC East again is controlled by Coach Betts. Once again he is coaching the
Redskins, and not only is he ecstatic so is Redskin nation. Last season the
Redskins finished 11-5 under Coach Betts, and the Giants also made the playoffs
at 9-7 under coach Nelson. The Cowboys finished 8-8 and the Eagles at 4-12. I
don't see much of a changing of the guards here in Season 22. The Cowboys are
coached by Quincy Peterson this season, and Peezy is coming off a tough season
in Tennessee where he finished 6-10. He looks to right the ship with his Boys
and Tony Romo, Dez Bryant, and DeMarco Murray. It's not going to be easy though,
they have the most talented divisional foes. The New York football Giants are
coached by Brett Williamson this season. The often quiet coach Brett is looking
to bring the Giants back to the playoffs, and he has the resume to do so, as he
finished 11-5 with the Bears last season winning the NFC North. With Eli Manning
a two time Super Bowl MVP, and that defensive line, these guys are going to be
very tough to deal with. The Philadelphia Eagles are arguably the most talented
team out of all 4 in this division, but injuries will have an effect on these
guys as you know. Michael Vick will need to finish a full 16 game season if
these guys want to have any chance of competing. Even with a healthy Vick, I
really don't think Coach Morales can compete with these other 3 in this
division. Coach Morales finished 5-11 with the Cardinals last season, and even
though the Eagles are certainly not the Cardinals, I see just about the same
fate for Coach Morales this season as well. The Washington Redskins are coached
by Thomas Betts once again, the two time MOF Super Bowl winner looks to add a
third this season with RG3 leading the way. We know that Coach Betts is in the
market for a top runningback and it's only a matter of time before he strikes a
deal to land one. Names like DeAngelo Williams, and Arian Foster even coming up
in talks. Either way Coach Betts is the team to beat in this division, and
barring Betts losing some digits on his hand, he will win this division.
NFC East Predictions:
Washington: 13-3
Ny Giants: 9-7
Dallas: 7-9
Philadelphia: 4-12
Rewind:
The Giants are the only real legitimate threat to Coach
Betts and the Skins this season. Sure Coach Quincy and
the Cowboys have alot of talent, ALOT of talent, but can
he use it correctly? I think it's going to be a feeling
out process for Dallas this season, and by the time he
works out the kinks it will be too late. The Eagles are
going to be a scary team to deal with, but Coach Morales
is going to have to work around that injury bug and
think about trading for a very good backup QB if he
wants to compete. So that will leave the Giants and
Redskins battling for this division. The Giants have a
great shot at making the post-season, and I think they
are the front runners for that 6th seed. The Redskins
are the Redskins and I expect them to battle for the NFC
Championship once again.
NFC
North
Chicago: Vinny Caturano (YoungCat21)
Detroit: Commissioner Dypko
Green Bay: William Vitek (Stormdownburst)
Minnesota: Josh Nelson (Krayzie300)
The
NFC North is owned by the Chicago Bears, who won another division title last
season. They have won 11 division titles in 21 season, they have a record 19
playoff wins, and 5 super bowl victories! And now they are coached by YoungCat21
who has made 2 out of the last 3 Super Bowls, winning one in Philadelphia. The
dominance is on track to continue in Chicago and they have the perfect
coach to do so. The Bears are bringing Brandon Marshall into the mix this
season, to team back up with Jay Cutler. Along with Matt Forte and Michael Bush,
this team is going to be one of the best in the MOF, no doubt about it. The NFC
is going to be on high alert when the Bears come to town. The Detroit Lions are
coached by our own Commissioner Dypko this season, and it seems that whenever he
does NOT have the 49ers, he doesn't seem to do as well. I do expect however,
Coach Dypko to do some things with Detroit this season. Calvin Johnson, Matt
Stafford, and that sick D-Line is right up Coach Dypko's alley and he should win
enough games to make the post-season. The Green Bay Packers are arguably the
best team in the game when it comes down to ratings. Aaron Rodgers and that
offense is explosive and can put up points in a hurry. However that defense can
give up points in a hurry too, so if Coach Storm can weather the storm he could
wind up in the playoffs as well. The Packers certainly have the talent to
compete for the wild card, but as for the division. Eh I dont think so. The
Minnesota Vikings are coached by our very own Josh Nelson who has deicded to
make his return to Minnesota to coach the team that he roots for every Sunday.
Last season was probably Coach Nelson's best as he finished 9-7 with the Giants
and made the playoffs. He looks to do the same in Minnesota, but with this
division and conference I will be surprised if he wins more than 5 games with
that team.
NFC North Predictions:
Chicago: 13-3
Detroit: 10-6
Green Bay: 8-8
Minnesota: 4-12
Rewind:
This is Coach Youngcat's Bears division to lose. I
believe he will have Chicago clicking on all cylinders
right out of the gates and it will be tough for the
Lions and Packers to catch up with him. I think out of
all the teams in the MOF these guys have the best shot
to go undefeated. The Lions and Packers will be the two
teams battling for 2nd place in the division. I think
the winner of that battle will be a wild card team no
doubt about it. The other team will have to fight with
the Giants and Falcons for that last spot. The Vikings
are a season or two away from being competitve. They
need Ponder to develop more of a skill set before they
can be serious contenders.
NFC
South
Atlanta: Farad Hall (HulkSmashU)
Carolina: Damon Clark (dpanther69)
New Orleans: KA Crosby (TeamKA)
Tampa Bay: John Healy (canesbucs1)
The
NFC South sees the Bucs back with Coach Healy, and the Panthers back with Coach
Damon. The other two teams have changed. The Saints are coached by sophmore
coach KA Crosby, and the Falcons are headed by Farad Hall. The Atlanta Falcons
have all the talent in the world. Possibly the best WR tandum in the league with
Jones and White, and Matt Ryan who is becoming a model of consistency. Coach
HulkSmash did not have the season he expected to in New Orleans last season as
he finished 8-8, so he looks to avenge that and come up big this season. The
Carolina Panthers are again coached by Dpanther. Last season was another tough
one to swallow for Coach Damon, as he finished 3-13 with these Panthers. But the
Panthers love him, he runs the team this season and with Cam Newton's emergence
along with the running game of this team, they should be much better. I dont
know how much, but they should be. The New Orleans Saints are coached by KA
Crosby, who had a great rookie campaign in Season 21, and was a tie breaker
short of making the playoffs with the St. Louis Rams as he finished 9-7. The
Saints are talented no question about it, and they are becoming not that talked
about, which could serve very well in Coach Crosby's favor. Drew Brees and all
those weapons on offense make them an instant threat to any opponent that faces
them. But can he compete with the all mighty coach Healy? That remains to be
seen. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers welcome back Coach Healy, who recently won a
Super Bowl, Season 20 to be exact, with the 49ers. He finished 14-2 last season
with the Ravens and were knocked out of the AFC Championship by Buffalo's Coach
Beast. Look for Josh Freeman to have a great year, along with Doug Martin and
Blount.
NFC South Predictions:
Tampa Bay: 12-4
Atlanta: 9-7
New Orleans: 6-10
Carolina: 5-11
Rewind: I see the Buccaneers
running away with this division barring any catastrophic injury or trade. Coach
Healy is the model coach of MOF every coach should model themselves from him.
Season in and season out he is right there in the mix for the championship, and
Chris Berman also has a little bit of a man crush on him, which is why i predict
him to win every season. The team that poses the biggest threat to him winning
this division, in my eyes, is the Atlanta Falcons. HulkSmash is on the verge of
becoming one of the better coaches in the league, but just needs to get over
that hump. He will battle for a playoff spot regardless of the division
situation. The Saints are a dangerous team, but Coach KA is a very tough
division and a very tough conference. He has a brutal schedule that I think will
catch up with him. Or he can surprise us all and go 13-3!? The Panthers are
always going to be the Panthers, and we're all hoping that one day Coach Damon
wins 10 games, but as for right now, he's going to finish in last place.
NFC
West
Arizona: Aaron Peterman (aaronpgh13)
St. Louis: Jason St. Hilaire (whosnext83)
San Francisco: Pauly Mendes (Pauly2110)
Seattle: Grant D'Elia (granvity)
The
NFC West has been owned by the 49ers the last few seasons, and it should again
this season. The 49ers enter this season as one of the best teams not only in
the division, or the NFC, but in all of football. Every starter from last years
defense is coming back, and now with Coach Pauly at the helm, this team is
destined to go all the way. Coach Pauly had a very impressive season last season
in Houston, finishing 12-4 and winning the division with the Texans. The rest of
the NFC West is going to be a jumbled mess, and we start with the Arizona
Cardinals. Coach Aaron Peterman has taken the Arizona challenge, and given the
fact that Aaron probably has the most experience in a Franchise league, he knows
a thing or two about what he's doing here. He hasn't named a starting
quarterback yet, but all eyes are on Kevin Kolb here. Larry Fitzgerald is going
to have to really have a huge year if Arizona wants to win more than 6 games,
which is where I have them finishing at. The St. Louis Rams are coached by Jason
St. Hilaire this season, and we all know what Coach Whosnext can do. Although
last season is one he wants to forget, usually Coach Whosnext is always up in
the playoff discussion and this season will be no different. Although the
division is out of the questions, i think he has enough talent to battle for a
wild card berth. The San Francisco 49ers, as mentioned above, are the favorites
by far to win this division. With the addition of Randy Moss, Brandon Jacobs,
and Mario Manningham, Alex Smith has more than enough weapons to be effective
this season, and Coach Pauly is licking his chops at getting at it this season.
I expect the 49ers to finish with the MOF's best record. The Seattle Seahawks
are always a tricky team. Coach Grant is a formidable coach, and has had a lot
of success here in Seattle. Last season was not one of those years, he finished
2-14 and had the worst record in the MOF. But this is a new season, and Seattle
has a bunch of talent to compete. Expect Grant to be a playoff contender.
NFC West Predictions:
San Francisco: 14-2
St. Louis:
8-8
Seattle:
8-8
Arizona:
6-10
Rewind: Like we said above, the 49ers should win this division
with ease. Their defense alone will win them 4 or 5 games by themselves. The
Seahawks and Rams are the next two teams that will be battling for 2nd place,
both teams we believe have a shot at making the playoffs. The Cardinals are
going to finish in last place it looks like, given the fact that they have QB
and RB problems.
