SCOUTING
REPORT TUTORIAL:
STEP BY STEP
INSTRUCTIONS |
|
The Scouting Report feature is a staple in the
MOF and has been for years. It is the prime way
to gather information on your opponent, and set
up a gameplan to stop them. They are also a
mandatory requirement that are due before the
deadline of that game. Some coaches are confused
on what to include in their scouting reports,
right now in Season 30 we're accepting full
games as a complete scouting report, but
starting in Season 31 that will no longer
suffice. We will need information, like the old
days. In this tutorial we will show you the
format we need to see when creating a scouting
report. We will also include the correct BBCode for the forum, so you can make it stand
out!
Step
1: Obviously you must login into the MOF forum
first, to post in the scouting report thread.
http://s9.zetaboards.com/mofleagues/index/

Step 2: After you are logged in, you will
scroll down to "Scouting Reports" You can either
click the word "Scouting Reports" or click the
AFC or NFC logo depending on what team you want
to write a report on.

Step 3: Select the team you want to write a
report on, and choose "Add Reply"

Step 4: You will now see the blank box to
enter your report.

Step 5: The following is how scouting
reports should be formatted. Remember to have
the report detailed, if you want to add pictures
of plays, you can do so. If you want to add your
gameplay footage, you can do so as well. The
code will be at the bottom of this tutorial. But
make sure, you do not enter just 1 line
information. Make your reports detailed, or they
will not count. At the end of each category you
will grade them on a scale of A-F. At the end of
the Special Teams category please grade Above
Average, Average, or Below Average, since
Special Teams really isn't gradeable. The final
category "Fun Factor" will be your sim
experience. On a scale of 1 to 5 with 5 being
the best, please grade them on the experience of
your game.
Week
11: San Francisco (20) at NY Giants (7)
Rushing Offense: Rashard Jennings is his main
back and loves to try to get to the outside but
doesn't have the speed. If you have fast OLBs
like the 49ers do, you will stop his run game
all day. Also likes the offtackle, and will run
towards the TE side most of the time. Saw mostly
conventional formations, I-Form, Strong, Weak.
Grade: B
Passing Offense: Loves his Tight End Donnell
with all the updates, he's tough to cover. Loves
the fast routes and quick throws (Drags,
Slants). Did beat me deep with a bomb to Randle
in the 2nd half, also tried a couple times to go
deep to Cruz but it was knocked down. So he will
attempt the long throws, covered or not.
Grade: C
Rushing Defense: Manually controls the DT and
tries to get in quick. Plays a 4-3 and saw a
good mixture of man and zone. Found a lot of
holes in the run D. Suseptible to the pistol,
and also likes to run the 5-2 defense. You will
be able to shake him loose if you get him in the
open field, over pursues sometimes and dives.
Outside runs worked very well, up the middle not
so much since he user'd the DT. JPP is very
fast, so watch out for him.
Grade: C
Passing Defense: Mixes up his man and zone, i
saw zone more often than man. Left Vernon Davis
open alot, he liked to blitz but his defense
wasn't fast enough to get in on me. Slants
worked very well, i was able to get seperation
from his CB's. Again, the Tight End was open
most of the game he didn't try to user cover him
or double him at all. So if you have a fast
dominant TE, go to him often.
Grade: C
Special Teams: Nothing really out of the
ordinary.
Grade: Average
Fun Factor: Great sportsmanship, completely
straight sim player. Always a good game. I
dominated the time of possession because i knew
he has offensive weapons. Get a lead, try to
control the clock, and hope he makes mistakes.
He scared me a bit at the end when he scored
that deep TD and picked me off, but i was able
to hold him off. GL rest of the way!
Grade: 5
Step 6: Now that your scouting report is
complete, you may wish to spice it up a bit by
adding color, or bold letters, italic letters,
larger letters or images. The table below will
show you how to use the codes, Also at the end
of the table i will post all the helmet logos
and all you have to do is right click the
helmet, choose properties and copy the URL of
the image, it should be something like
http://www.mofleagues.com/pictures/oldschoolhelmets_100x100/ARI.png
and you can add that into your scouting report
as well.

Step 7: In final, this is how a
scouting report should look:

and
this is the code for that type of format:

[b][size=7][color=black]WEEK 12:
[/color][/size][/b][color=black][size=7]WASHINGTON
- [color=red]20[/color] AT SAN FRANCISCO
- [color=black]17[/color][/size][/color]
[b][color=#773141]RUSHING
OFFENSE[/color][/b]:
Loves the formation Gun Bunch formation
(3 WR on one side TE on the other). Then
runs a sweep or draw out of that play
and runs towards the outside. Morris
breaks lots of tackles so one on one
tackling will not be sufficient, try to
wrap him up (x button) and do not hit
stick him because he'll just run you
over. Do not remember seeing much of
Helu, but Helu has speed. Did score on a
pistol HB dive up the middle, where he
was untouched. RG3 didn't run many QB
reads at all, the only one i remember is
at the end of the game he ran one to get
a first down to win the game. I think
it's the presence of RG3 that will
bother you more than he actually runs.
His run game is his bread and butter, no
doubt about it.
[b][color=#FFB612]GRADE: [/color]A[/b]
[b][color=#773141]PASSING
OFFENSE[/color][/b]:
Shotgun and Pistol pretty much
exclusively. Again, loves the formation
Gun Bunch TE
[img]http://mymaddenpad.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/05/50ed3f79ge016_thumb.jpg[/img]
I saw more than 70% of his offense in
this formation. Loves to run crossing
routes with this formation, also will
try to go deep. I made a user mistake
that got him wide open for 70 yards on
that play. Will scramble with RG3 to
find seperation. I suggest to send
pressure at all times. It will give him
less time for the crossing routes to
develop and it will stuff the run too if
he runs a draw. Likes the TE and will
try and squeeze the ball into him,
picked him off manually with Willis
once, and probably should have had 2 or
3 more picks that i dropped. Could zone
coverage works best against him, user
the MLB or Safety and send pressure and
you will have success.
[b][color=#FFB612]GRADE: [/color]B[/b]
[b][color=#773141]RUSHING
DEFENSE[/color][/b]:
Loves to play 1 deep safety, dares you
to throw deep on him. Mostly plays zone,
most like everyone else, and shifts his
DL to the side where he thinks you are
running. Will usually send a LB on a
blitz almost every play to stuff the
run. Counters worked the best against
him. HB Dives, off tackles did not work
very well he got in very fast with his
DT and DE. He will user the DT, and i
didnt do this often, but fake hikes
might draw him off side. So definitely
run counters, get him out of the blitz,
then Slams and Dives should open up a
little more. QB reads didn't work well,
his LBs are too fast.
[b][color=#FFB612]GRADE: [/color]A[/b]
[b][color=#773141]PASSING
DEFENSE[/color][/b]:
Loves the zone, lots of cover 2 and lots
of seeing 1 safety deep. That dared me
to throw deep a couple times, I had more
success with short drags and slants.
Just have to be patient for things to
open up, which could be difficult if you
have an in accurate quarterback because
he sends alot of pressure. TE is your
best bet, but he picked me off on a
jumped slant route, and picked me off on
a deep one on one ball. He has a very
tough zone pass defense to break, you're
going to have to do your homework to
beat it. The most success i had again,
was slants, drags, and short stuff.
Screens (if you have a faster back than
Gore). If you have the QB to throw deep,
do it.
[b][color=#FFB612]GRADE: [/color]A[/b]
[b][color=#773141]SPECIAL
TEAMS[/color][/b]:
Has DeSean Jackson returning kicks and
punts, which will affect him in the pass
game. But nothing out of the ordinary or
eye opening. Very good punter, can hit
it inside the 10 religiously.
[b][color=#FFB612]GRADE: [/color]Above
average kicker[/b]
[b][color=#773141]OVERALL[/color][/b]:
Great defense, very good running game.
He's an old school MOF player in a
rookie's body. Great addition to the
league, very apologetic if he makes a
mistake that is against the rules, and
very easy to deal with. Great
sportsmanship. Wish him luck the rest of
the way, but not too much luck ;)
[b][color=#FFB612]FUN FACTOR:
